The last time I saw Jeff was around 1988 when he told me he had taken a new job with the Secretary of State in Detroit reviewing the status of suspended drivers - never saw or heard from him again. It saddened me greatly to hear he was gone -Christopher Nelson- |

Craig earned his Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Michigan and later earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration. He retired from General Motors as Director of Powertrain-Europe. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, Richard Council #788-Knights of Columbus and was looking forward to being installed a 4th Degree Member of the Bishop Albers Assembly this spring. Craig was also an avid sailor. Surviving is his wife Melissa, his father, Austin Oppenlander, 3 children: Craig Jr, Mark and Emily, 4 siblings: Jackie (Brian) Ness, Richard (Jill) Oppenlander, Charlie (Wanda) Potts and James (Lynn) Oppenlander and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephew. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30a.m. at St. Gerard Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. John Klein as celebrant. Rite of committal will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8p.m. at the Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta Chapel, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30pm. Visitation continues at the church, Wednesday at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Immune Deficiency Foundation.
